The Journal of Law and Biosciences published the results of a study by a team of researchers from the Jagiellonian University’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Ethics (INCET), which analysed and compared the schedules regarding the order of vaccination against Covid-19 in 27 European Union countries, the United Kingdom and Israel.
All countries studied prioritised healthcare workers and staff and residents of 24-hour care centres. 10 countries listed teachers as a priority group for vaccination against Covid-19, while only 6 (Austria, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Romania, Slovenia) prioritised grocery shop workers.
Also 6 countries (Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia and Romania) gave priority status in the vaccination queue to migrants, refugees and prisoners living in crowded centres.
Germany listed the largest number of priority groups. e.g. people with dementia and their caregivers could be vaccinated against COVID-19 before the 70-74 age group, and people surrounding pregnant women could be vaccinated before the 65-69 age group.
