The 13th competition “Scientific Debut 2023 – Sustainable Development and the European Green Deal” has been resolved. The first prize was won by Krakow University of Technology (PK) PhD student Judyta Rduch for her thesis ‘Revitalisation of socially excluded zones in pursuit of sustainable development in post-industrial cities’.
The competition for innovative scientific article ‘Scientific Debut 2023 – Sustainable Development and the European Green Deal’ was organised by the Office of the Member of the European Parliament Prof. Jerzy Buzek, the Department of Applied Social Sciences of the Faculty of Organisation and Management at the Silesian University of Technology, the Institute of Social Studies at the Academy of Applied Sciences in Racibórz and the Silesian Centre for Business Ethics and Sustainable Development.
In her article, Judyta Rduch from the Doctoral School of PK indicates that the aim of revitalisation processes should be: to strengthen the cities’ capacity for sustainable development and to improve the inhabitants’ quality of life. She also explains that, in addition to investments in infrastructure, a city’s social and housing policy is crucial to its revitalisation.
