Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań helps in the production of coronavirus diagnostic swabs

22.04.2020

As part of the cooperation, Technology Hall Group of the Center of Advanced Technologies of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the “Sygnis” Technology Group and STER Institute and STER have launched prototype production of diagnostic swabs to check the presence of coronavirus.

The decreasing number of tests on SARS-CoV-2 may be due to the lack of availability of swabs for sampling. Thanks to the initiative of the Sygnis group, mass production of up to hundreds of thousands of swabs per month is possible. This amount corresponds to the daily needs of the laboratories. This can play a significant role in laboratory diagnostics, ensuring continuity of research during the current epidemiological crisis.

The first batch of prototypes made by injection technology is ready. It is necessary to carry out medical validation and certification to start mass production.
