Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University to document the legacy of Polish immigrants in the USA

In July 2019, documentation works have been conducted by the Institute of Art History (IHS) of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) in the United States as part of the project “Polish Parishes and Churches in the USA”.

The work of Warsaw scientists consisted of a source and photographic inventory of the “Polish Cathedrals”, under a grant awarded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and supported by the POLONIKA Institute. The project manager is Dr Jacek Gołębiowski from Catholic University of Lublin, and the Institute of Art History is represented by Dr Katarzyna Chrudzimska-Uhera, Prof. UKSW Dr Anna Czyż, Dr Bartłomiej Gutowski and Norbert Piwowarczyk.

The work is aimed at documenting the disappearing heritage of Polish economic and political emigres, who came to the America at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
