Researchers from the Department of Bohemian Studies at the Institute of Slavic Philology of the University of Wrocław will carry out projects co-financed in the Miniatura 6 competition of the National Science Center.

Thanks to the grant, Dr Magdalena Matkowska-Jerzyk will study language issues related to the phenomenon of the establishment (and concept) of Tomasz Bata’s plants and the company’s operations in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. The researcher intends to investigate and describe characteristic lexical and phraseological phenomena that stand out against the background of the extremely dynamic development of the Czech interwar period

Dr Kamila Woźniak will carry out the project “Between memory and oblivion. Czech and translated German literary testimonies on the 1945 Prague Uprising ”. The aim of the researcher is to analyze the literary image of the Prague Uprising in the context of the memorial discourse, which in the future will allow for a broader perspective of comparative literary studies.
