The project “Chiaro” by Jagoda Sergiel, a student of the Furniture Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, took second place in the Elite Design Award 2021 “Upcycle Bed” competition. The prize includes the implementation of the prototype, presentation during the Milan Design Week fair and the possibility of its production.

The topic of the competition was the bed perceived as the center of our everyday life. It was necessary to propose an original form of a frame with a headboard on the basis of analyses of the surroundings and the rest area, with a view to the modern lifestyle and current needs. The solution should include at least one material of natural origin, recyclable or from local sources.

Chiaro is a bed design based on factors contributing to effective relaxation. The main assumption is to create an atmosphere of relaxation by surrounding with natural materials and nature itself – the headboard design provides a place for placing potted plants.
