Dr Mateusz Strzelecki from the University of Wrocław receives the Polityka Award

Dr Mateusz Strzelecki from the Institute of Geography and Regional Development at the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Environmental Sciences of the University of Wrocław received the “Polityka” Weekly Award.

The two-stage competition is addressed to young scientists. Firstly, the Chapter selects 15 finalists, and then five winners are selected who will receive scholarships 15.000 PLN. The winners will be presented during the gala on October 28.

Dr Strzelecki is a polar geographer. He held his PhD title from the University of Durham, and worked in the UK, Norway and Germany. Currently, he is the head of the Stanisław Baranowski Polar Station at Spitsbergen, leader of Polish research teams on coastal evolution and the paraglacial transformation of the landscape in the High Arctic, as well as he is the youngest member of the Polar Research Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
