20.12.2021

Gdańsk University of Technology students became the winners of the international program Huawei Seeds for the Future. After defeating the other teams from the Netherlands, Poland and Cameroon, they advanced to the global level, where they will face 9 teams from around the world.

The winning project “Sensideer” is a system of thermal and motion sensors located in places particularly exposed to accidents with wild animals. The system informs the driver of the vehicle about the danger.

In the future, the system will be used to recognize animals by means of machine learning and more accurately determine the migration paths of animals along the road infrastructure. Additionally, it can be used in the software of highly electrified cars.

Huawei Seeds for the Future is an international program that gives users access to practical knowledge about the most interesting technologies of our time. This year’s competition was attended by 30 thousand students from over 350 universities in 108 countries around the world.
