Krakow University of Technology to launch the Laboratory of Environmental Aerodynamics

09.10.2020

The Krakow University of Technology (PK) has started constructing the Laboratory of Environmental Aerodynamics. The creating of this research center is strategic for the university, for Kraków and Małopolska region. The center to fight smog and improve air quality will be built on the premises of the campus Czyżyny.

The construction will be completed by mid-2022. The total value of the project is over PLN 24.6 million, of which PLN 17.7 million is a subsidy from the Regional Operational Program of the Małopolska Region.

The new laboratory will conduct model studies and computer simulations on the dynamic impact on smog and city ventilation, as well as experimental studies of environmental and climate impacts on engineering solutions.

The most important research topics will also include wind engineering, wind energy, environmental impacts on buildings and people, aerodynamics and dynamics of buildings, including research on building and construction objects exposed to wind and snow.
