Scientists of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the Lublin University of Technology (PL) under the supervision of Prof. Małgorzata Franus received nearly PLN 3.2 million for research on the use of waste materials for the production of ceramic aggregates using microwave radiation. The financing is allocated by the National Center for Research and Development as part of the “Application Projects” competition.
Lublin researchers will cooperate with the company Bikoserwis from Nowiny near Kielce, which has been dealing with waste materials and the technology of their processing for 26 years. Thanks to the cooperation, they will create innovative solutions that will reduce the amount of environmentally harmful waste.
The works will last 2.5 years. Scientists will conduct chemical and mineralogical characteristics of selected waste materials, develop the raw material composition of LECA masses and granulation technologies, and analyze the effect of microwave heating parameters on the properties of aggregates.
