Łukasiewicz – Institute of Electrical Engineering (IEL) in Warsaw and Danish company Ørsted, a world leader in offshore wind energy, have signed a cooperation agreement. The main objective of the partnership is to develop technology for recycling offshore wind turbine blades.

Łukasiewicz Research Network conducts work on bioeconomy and material recovery. As part of the research direction ‘Green, low-carbon Economy’ and the ‘Offshore Wind Energy’ programme, scientists from Łukasiewicz – IEL are already working on the recycling of wind turbine blades. The project is an implementation of the idea of sustainable development and circular economy in the area of wind energy.

The scientific activities of the Polish research community have attracted the interest of Ørsted, for whom climate neutrality along the entire value chain, as well as the protection of biodiversity, is one of the strategic goals.
