Łukasiewicz’s Institute of Aviation to develop Polish Drive Module

27.01.2020

In April 2020, the Łukasiewicz Institute of Aviation in a consortium with Creotech Instruments S.A., will begin the implementation of the POLON project: Polish Drive Module. The purpose of the project is to develop a chemical rocket propulsion for a small satellite and its integration with the Hypersat platform, developed by Creotech.

The project will last 3 years and will end with preparation for implementation and potential commercialization. It will also be the first chemical rocket propulsion in space, designed and constructed in Poland.

The Space Technology Department (ZTK) will be responsible for the implementation of the project on the side of Łukasiewicz Institute of Aviation.
POLON is based on propulsion technologies developed by ZTK, using an ecological propellant – highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide.

The project is funded by the National Center for Research and Development under the Fast Track for Mazovia program.
