Nicolaus Copernicus University researcher wins European Court of Auditors scholarship

Dr Maciej Serowaniec, Professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University, Faculty of Law and Administration, has won a scholarship from the European Court of Auditors as part of the European Court of Auditors Postgraduate Research Grant Programme competition. As part of the scholarship, the researcher will undertake a one-month research internship at the European University Institute in Florence and a library search at the European Union (EU) Historical Archives there.

The laureate’s research project is devoted to the role of independent fiscal institutions in working towards compliance with fiscal rules and principles in EU Member States. The Jury appreciated its innovative character and its potential to promote the idea of openness and transparency of budgetary policies in EU Member States. 

The project will analyse the impact of independent fiscal institutions on parliamentary procedures related to the adoption and amendment of budget laws.
