Polish Academy of Sciences to hold a conference on the ecological, economic and social value of water

22.03.2021

On World Water Day – March 22 – the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) is organizing an online conference with experts to talk about the ecological, economic and social value of water. The World Water Development Report 2021 – the most important UNESCO report on the state of water resources in the world – will also be presented and discussed during the event.

The world’s water resources are shrinking as a result of global warming, industrial development and pollution. This crisis is not a concern of a few communities. Without water, there would be no life and people begin to understand it because of climate change.

The program of the event includes: presentation of the latest UNESCO report, expert speeches and a panel discussion with the participation of: Prof. Paweł Rowiński (Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences), Prof. Tomasz Okruszko (Warsaw University of Life Sciences), Dr Iwona Wagner (European Regional Center for Ecohydrology, Polish Academy of Sciences, University of Łódź) and Dr Krzysztof Niedzialkowski (Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Mammal Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences).
