Polish-German consortium began work on modern composites

05.11.2019

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Białystok University of Technology is launching a new international research and development project ” New metal matrix composites reinforced with natural diatoms”.

The project will be implemented by a consortium whose partners are Polish Metalworking Cluster and Białystok University of Technology, and German Fraunhofer Institute and Stifterverband Metalle. The Polish part of the project is financed by the National Center for Research and Development (as part of the international competition for research projects of the CORNET 26 initiative) with nearly PLN 1 million 300 thousand allocated for this purpose, of which Białystok University of Technology will receive PLN 745 thousand.

The task of scientists from the Bialystok University of Technology is to produce, and later examine and describe modern composite materials of metallic matrix with natural reinforcement in the form of diatom shells.
