“Biology-Medicine-Therapy” was the slogan of the 5th Scientific Congress of the Polish Society for Medical Biology, which took place at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin from 15 to 17 September 2022.

The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, who, during the inauguration of the conference, recalled that the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) has been authorised to run a medical faculty since 1 October 2023. 

He also emphasised that, in this context, the 5th Scientific Congress of the Polish Society of Medical Biology is part of the university’s ambitions and serves as a substantive support for it. 

‘We live in a world where the threat from various diseases, especially oncological ones, is increasing,’ the minister pointed out, adding that this issue will also be addressed at the conference.

The keynote lecture on genetic and metabolic liver disease was given by Professor Grzegorz Telega, a paediatrician from the Medical College of Wisconsin in the USA, who works in the Division of Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition – Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
