The report ”Women at technical universities 2020” states that women are 57 % of the total number of students in Poland and only 36% of them are educated at public technical high schools. Only 15% female students choose IT faculties.

Biomedical engineering is particularly popular among women at technical universities. It is science, where medical and biological knowledge are crucial apart from technical skills, (the share of women is 67% there). At private universities, the highest percentage of women (46%) was present in the field of bioinformatics.

Among the new technology faculties, IT faculties are particularly important. The participation of women increased there from 13 to 15 percent.

Computer science, i.e. the most popular IT field, is taught at 113 public and private universities.
