Prof. Hanna Ratuszna from the Faculty of Humanities of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń became this year’s scholarship holders of the Lanckoroński Foundation. As part of the scholarship, she will carry out the project “Epistolography by Henryk Siemiradzki (1852-1873) in Rome. Artistic topography cities: Kharkiv – Krakow – Rome”.

The research of the scientist from Toruń is an attempt to define the city as a cultural space experienced by Siemiradzki, to establish the role of the model of existence, the influence of history (tradition) and the stages of shaping the discourse of modernity, which was a counterbalance to the melancholic aura of the late nineteenth century.

The Lanckoroński scholarships are intended for research in Rome, Vienna, London and other European research centers. They are received by scientists conducting research in the humanities, in particular Mediterranean archaeologists, historians, art historians, classical philologists and historians of philosophy.
