Dr Anna Wojtas-Rduch from the Faculty of Arts and Education Sciences and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Silesia was awarded second place in the 19th edition of the ‘Open Doors’ competition of the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled. She was recognised for her work “Space of an inclusive classroom”.

The issue of space in the construction of an optimal learning environment for pupils in integrated classes is one of the topics neglected in pedagogical research. Meanwhile, locating students with diverse educational needs (including especially disabilities) in the classroom space plays an important role in creating quality education for all students.

An important motive for taking up this topic was also the need to construct practical methodological solutions depicting possible spatial arrangements of the classroom in inclusive education conditioned by various variables.
