23.12.2020

The Student Scientific Association for Application of Artificial Intelligence Methods AI-METH of the Silesian University of Technology has prepared a mobile disinfecting robot. The project will help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The robot of Silesian students moves on caterpillars and is controlled by a system with a range of up to 250 m in an urbanized area and up to 1 km with mutual visibility of the robot’s and operator’s antennas. The data of the area, where the robot moves is transmitted by installed cameras.

The device has an application to display image from the cameras, which allows the operator to observe the surroundings, control, avoid obstacles and at the same time locate the places to be disinfected.

The robot will also be able to transport packages with food or other materials during for example a pandemic. After some expansion, it could also be used to transport a person.
