University of Lodz to launch the cooperation with the police within the “Open Lodz” project

13.11.2019

The Philology Department of the University of Lodz, as part of the “Open Lodz” project, will train 80 officers of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Lodz. The scope of training will include intercultural communication, communication with people with poor knowledge of Polish and English at the basic and intermediate levels.

In return, the officers of the Łódź police will conduct security training and legal regulations for foreigners who are participants of the project.

-We want foreigners who come to Łódź to feel the best here. In the case of problems, the police are often the first contact group, and that is why we jointly agreed that the communication skills of officers are needed. Both policemen and English teachers helped in the development of the materials – says Dr Monika Kopytowska, coordinator of the “Open Łódź” project.
