The educational offer of the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn for the academic year 2023/2024 will include Physiotherapy. This is one of the new courses to be implemented at the School of Public Health of the UWM Medical College.

“The idea to create this course of study is closely related to what is happening in the region,” explains Dr Barbara Juśkiewicz-Swaczyna, who heads the team for the development of the application for the establishment of a single master’s degree in physiotherapy.

“A new smart specialisation for the region – Healthy Living was approved in August. It is difficult to imagine it functioning without physiotherapy – a specialisation that will bring well-educated graduates into the labour market”, she adds.

Graduates of a 5-year master’s degree course at UWM will be prepared to work in physiotherapy as required by the Act on the Profession of Physiotherapist. Thus, they will be able to conduct rehabilitation of children and adolescents. They will also acquire competences in the prevention and rehabilitation of sport-related injuries, conducting rehabilitation of elderly people with functional and psychological dysfunctions and limitations.
