Students from Wrocław University of Technology (‘PWr’) have won the Australian Rover Challenge competition at the University of Adelaide. The victory and five gold medals mark a very successful debut for Project Scorpio’s new rover, Scorpio Infinity.

The rovers, designed and built by student teams from Australia, India, Bangladesh and Poland, competed in Australia. The tasks in the competition simulated the missions faced by rovers on the lunar surface. The student teams performed tasks involving navigation, resource extraction and construction.

First place with over 350 points was won by PWr representatives from Project Scorpio, followed by teams from Australia – Monash Nova Rover from Monash University (281 points) and UQ Space from the University of Queensland (258.3 points).

“We are incredibly happy that our rover has already done so well in its first competition”, says Zofia Stypułkowska, team leader of the Off-Road Unconventional Vehicles Scientific Club.
