Researchers from the University of Gdansk and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan will investigate unconventional ways Ukrainian refugees learn Polish. The project involves researchers from the Volyn’s Lesya Ukrainka National University and Italian psycholinguist Jacopo Saturno.

The researchers want to investigate the process of learning Polish among refugees who acquire these competences from informal sources. Local initiatives, public schools and educational platforms as well as independent online tutors and youtubers will be included in the research. In addition to identifying these actors, the team will analyse their teaching methods and strategies.

The initiative has received PLN 222 800 from the National Agency for Academic Exchange as part of the Intervention Grant which supports international cooperation of research teams or international mobility of researchers undertaken in response to sudden, important, unforeseen developments.
