Researchers from the Mechanical Faculty of the Koszalin University of Technology won the Grand Prix in the ‘Technology’ category at the Polfish International Fish and Food Fair in Gdansk. They were awarded for their prototype device for separating the kidney from the remains after filleting or flaking carp.
The device was developed as part of cooperation between the Koszalin University of Technology and the Sea Fisheries Institute in Gdynia – National Research Institute. Its creation is the result of the third stage of the project ‘Carp mechanical processing technology in aquaculture farms and fish processing plants. A handbook’.
“A summary of the project will be the development of a guidebook for carp farmers and processors, based on solutions developed as part of the project”, says Prof. Marek Jakubowski of the Koszalin University of Technology.
The Polfish trade fair has an unquestionable reputation; it is the only trade fair in Poland dedicated strictly to the fish industry.
