Łukasiewicz – the Institute of Aviation will use modern technology to calculate emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide for LOT Polish Airlines planes.

Currently, emissions from aircraft propulsion engines are calculated for the ICAO Landing Take-off Cycle – LTO. In accordance with the requirements of ICAO Annex 16, engine manufacturers determine the emission levels at the designated engine operation ranges and durations at the test station, explains Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation.

In fact, aircraft flight phase times in the LTO cycle and engine operation ranges are different for each airport.

Thanks to the use of modern technologies and the scientifically supported method, the actual emission of PLL LOT aircraft will be calculated.

Cooperation with the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation will allow LOT Polish Airlines to determine the actual environmental impact of aircraft emissions and to undertake broader research and development cooperation.
