PhD student of the University of Wrocław wins the competition for master’s and doctoral theses “Open Doors”

Michał Pieniak, PhD student of the Institute of Psychology at the University of Wrocław – won the first prize in the competition for master’s and doctoral theses “Open Doors” organized by the State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons. In his work “Beliefs of blind and sighted people about sensory compensation” he focused on examining common concepts regarding changes in the functioning of the senses of blind people.

The “Open Doors” competition is devoted to health, occupational and social disabilities. This year’s 17th competition was held under the honorary patronage of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and with the support of the National Center for Research and Development.

Michał Pieniak won in the category of “cultural meaning of disability”. The research presented in his work is part of a research project realized under the Opus grant of the National Science Center.
