Białystok University of Technology (PB) and the Military Central Design and Technology Office (WCBKT) S.A. will create a unique device for the F35 fighters.
PB and WBCKT scientists will develop an innovative device for the aircraft before take-off. The project “Reconfigured Aircraft Power Supply System 270V – 28V d.c.” is worth over PLN 9 million. It will be financed by the National Center for Research and Development with the amount of PLN 7 million.
The F35 multi-role fighters will soon be purchased by the Polish Armed Forces. They are requiring the highest technology, because F35 in fact is a flying computer and requires a lot of energy – says Piotr Kisiel, President of WCBKT S.A. Therefore, power supplies used to start these machines must have specialized rectifiers.
Hubert Jakubowski, head of the Research Department, Member of the Supervisory Board of WCBKT S.A. emphasized that at the moment only Americans can supply 270V high voltage and only in Lockheed Martin hangars.
-We intend to create a production version that meets all energy quality and aviation standards. One that can be used at all airports in the world – added Jakubowski.
