The LegumeLegacy project “Optimising multiple benefits of grass, legume and herb mixtures in crop rotations: modelling mechanisms and legacy effects” is starting at the University of Life Sciences in Poznań.

The project, implemented under Horizon Europe, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions – Doctoral Networks, aims to carry out research adapting existing crop production systems linked to ruminant livestock production to the priorities contained in the European Green Deal.

The LegumeLegacy project is being carried out by a consortium of 15 entities from five European Union countries and three associated countries (Denmark, the Netherlands, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Poland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

The aim will primarily be to minimise greenhouse gas emissions, reduce fertiliser inputs and reduce nutrient leaching into the environment, while increasing carbon stocks, biodiversity and crop stability.
