Students of Wrocław University of Science and Technology wins the StRuNa

26.11.2020

The Scientific Club for Humanization of the Urban Environment, operating at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, won the first prize in the national competition StRuNa. Students were awarded for the implementation of the “Arch / Box”-  project of an experimental, temporary pavilion, which was made of pro-ecological materials such as cardboard and paper.

The pavilion stands in front of the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław, and its form, reinterpreting the Gothic style, refers to the cloisters of the museum located in the former Bernardine monastery. On the one hand, it is to resemble the ruins of Gothic temples, and on the other – its elegant proportions and closed form made of new materials are associated with a prefabricated product that has just left the factory and is ready for commercial use.

“Arch / Box” is a temporary installation that will deteriorate over time under the influence of weather conditions. The facility was built on the occasion of the jubilee of the monthly journal “Architektura-murator”.
