Dr Robert Gajda from the Department of Human Nutrition at Wrocław University of Life Sciences is working on the first questionnaire in Poland to assess the nutritional risk of seniors. The research is being conducted in collaboration with the Wrocław Centre for Social Development.
“There is no Polish questionnaire to study the nutritional risk of seniors living in the community. Dietitians and doctors usually rely on a questionnaire developed in Canada, which includes, for example, questions about puddings, practically absent in traditional Polish cuisine, tofu or beans in sauce”, says Dr Gajda.
The questions of the Polish questionnaire concern dietary risk factors, i.e. changes in body weight, food intake, diet, physiological, adaptive and social problems hindering nutritional rationality. They are aimed at people aged 65+. The questionnaires will be administered to approximately 500 seniors from Wrocław and the Wrocław district.
